About
About me
I have always wondered what people expect to find when they visit an “about” page. After all, most visitors probably already know who you, and those that don’t … well, there just strangers, so it doesn’t really matter who you are.
For those that care, i’m a thirty-something Australian guy who enjoys taking photos. I don’t have any false illusions of talent: i’m never going to be an international household name like Henri Cartier-Bresson, Annie Leibovitz or Spencer Tunic. In fact, I’m never going to be a local Aussie household name, like Anne Geddes, Steve Parish or Ken Duncan. But i’m happy with that … I take photos because I enjoy it. If someone else likes them too, that’s great, but I’m not out to be a celebrity.
About this site
Why do I do this ? … What is this site for ? … the answer is for fun. I have enjoyed taking photos for a long time and I can’t think of a better way to share what I’ve seen, the places I’ve been, or just some irrelevant pictures of ‘stuff’.
Cameras and Gear
I’ve got quite a few cameras… I mean lots of them. I wouldn’t say I’m a collector, they are just all pretty cool for ther own reasons … like the Horizon Perfekt panorama camera, with its swing lens, producing awesome 120 degree pictures on standard 35mm film … or the film cameras from the 1950′s and 1960′s. But for convenience, it is hard to go past the digitals (Canon 7D / 350D / s95 / Ixus400).
I’ve also ‘switched’ to Mac. I wish I’d done it 10 years ago !

“We are passive onlookers in a world that moves perpetually. Our only moment of creation is that 1/125th of a second when the shutter clicks, the signal is given, and motion is stopped…”
