snapshots through life
Lego

just by a whisker

After a long day at work, I fell asleep on the couch, waking at 11:50pm realising I hadn’t taken my shot yet.   But I made it … exif says 11:59PM ….  just by a whisker.

And with whisker’s in mind, todays image is brought to you by Movember, a month where “selfless and generous men, known as Mo Bros, groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery. Supported by the women in their lives, Mo Sistas, Movember Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo growing efforts.”

So if you see someone sporting a hirsute upper lip this month, do stop, stare and even point, but don’t laugh, make sure you applaud & get out your wallet to help the selfless Mo Bro in his efforts to raise money for prostate cancer & depression.

something to smile about ?

Keep smiling – it makes people wonder what you’ve been up to.   Do you have something to smile about ?

i’m a lumberjack

An Irishman got a job as a lumberjack, but try as he might, he couldn’t meet his quota of fifty trees a day. By chance, he saw an advertisement in a shop window for chain-saws “guaranteed to fell sixty trees a day”.

So he bought one, but the best he could manage was twenty trees a day. He took it back to the shop and complained that there must be something wrong with it.

“Let me look at it,” said the man in the shop and, taking the chain-saw, he switched it on.

“Heavens above!” exclaimed the Irishman, covering his ears with his hands, “What the hell is that noise?”

clowning around

tagged

On of my contacts on flickr, photography.andreas ‘tagged’ me to post 10 random things about myself.  Andreas is also completing a 365 project this year, just his is with a bit of a difference, as it is entirely comprised of lego minifigs … and he’s doing a fantastic job.

I thought i’d do a tribute shot tonight of one of his images that I love.  You can see his original version here.

grand prix

I love F1 and grand prix motor racing – the tradition, the excitement, and the action.  Living in Australia, though, it’s a bit tough to watch, given that it’s on very late on a Sunday night – but it really is something great to watch … and that means a few sleepy Monday’s at work.

One day, perhaps when my working days are behind me, I’d love to travel the world for a year, going to every race … definitely something for my bucket list.

Tonight is the 12th race of the season, at the Spa circuit in Belgium.  It would be great to see Mark Webber finally get onto the top step for the first time this year.

clean up

Why is it that when ever you get a day off work, you spend it cleaning up ?

sink dive

Lego-me loves to scuba dive … and this week is definitely dive week, with the world’s stockmarkets having a massive dive.

Unfortunately, it’s winter around this part of the world, so he’s confined to indoor diving in the bathroom sink.  The good news is that he’s sure to rise back to the surface, let’s hope the stockmarkets do the same soon.

feeling green

A very quick & simple shot tonight, i’m not feeling well (again), in fact i’m really feeling green.

I don’t know what it is but since I’ve lots weight, and dramatically improved my health, I now seem to catch very little bug that floats past.  Who would think that becoming healthier would result in using more sick days !

But I can’t complain too much, a few extra years on my life is definitely worth a few more sick days along the way.

sk8r boi

“He was a skater boy, she said see ya later boy.
He wasn’t good enough for her.
She had a pretty face but her head was up in space.
She needed to come back down to earth.”

lyrics by Avril Lavigne and The Matrix (2002)

the curtain call

All good stage shows end with a curtain call … an opportunity for all the performers to come together on stage and for the audience to applaud their performance.

So here is mine.  Ladies and gentlemen, I present the performers of the Month of Minifigs !

[insert applause here]

[181/365] Halfway through the Project 365, and the end of the Month of Minifigs.

happily ever after … or is it ?

With all the chaos, it’s no surprise that nearly all the guests have left the party.

Well, almost all of them … the twins were impressed with Lego-me’s heroics, putting out the fire and saving the day, so impressed that they stayed around to find out if he wanted to head out for a drink or two.   And of course he did, who wouldn’t.

——

But with every good story, there is always a twist (a lead in to the sequel)

Lego-me’s sister had seen the twins trying to take advantage of him, he clearly wasn’t thinking straight and must have been in shock after what had happened.

She had to do something … they just weren’t good enough to be in her family, and she was prepared to do whatever it took … absolutely whatever it took !

[the end  .... fade to black]

all clear

The firefighters came across something that concerned them when they were checking the fire was completely extinguished – had the gatecrashers left something a little more sinister behind ?

The party was put on hold until the area was declared safe. The firefighters weren’t going to take any chances, so they called in their hazmat team to do some tests.

They wen’t over everything with a fine tooth comb, and as much as Lego-me wanted his party to get underway again, he understood that the safety of all his friends was much more important.

As the perfect host, he made sure that all of his guests were safe and sound after all the chaos.  It was getting late by the time he made it around to all the guests, many of whom had gone home.  He was chatting with the twins as the firefighters gave the all clear.

under arrest

The police arrived just in time to catch the gatecrashers as they tried to make an escape out the back exit.  With a little struggle the police apprehended them both.  They were put into handcuffs and placed under arrest.

With the fire completely out the police walked the two gatecrashers back through the party to the waiting police van to take them to the station to be formally charged.  The guests watch all the action unfold, and applauded loudly as the two criminals made the walk of shame out of the party.

to the rescue

Lego-me jumped into action.  He grabbed his fire extinguisher and sprinted into the party, pulling out the safety pin as he entered, running towards the fire.  Squeezing the trigger, the CO2 shot out of the nozzle, blanketing the fire and

Hearing the sirens of emergency vehicles arriving, the gatecrashers had to get out, and made a move for the back exit.  The firefighters rushed into the house, just as Lego-me emptied the extinguisher completely putting the fire out.

Lego-me to the rescue, saving the day!

[177/365]  Day 26 in the Month of Minifigs.

fire! fire!

fire! fire! … well that’s what the mime would have said if he was talking, but the look on his face was enough to get Lego-me’s attention.

What the hell was going on?

Lego-me was right, the two gatecrashers did look like trouble and they were intent on destroying the whole party – but he had no idea how much trouble.  The first thing he knew was screams from the partygoers as the two idiot’s somehow started a fire in the middle of the party.  It was chaos, guests running everywhere to escape.  Someone call 0-0-0 (911).

[176/365]  An emergency on day 25 in the Month of Minifigs.

gatecrashers

Lego-me had never seen these two guys before, even without their werewolf costumes.

They had heard about the party from the tweet that Lego-me sent at the start, and were intend on making their presence felt.  They just walked straight in, no one was going to get in their way of this party.

Lego-me had a bad feeling about these guys !

[175/365]  Day 24 in the Month of Minifigs.

village idiots

It seems every village has it’s idiots … Lego-me appears to know more than his fair share.

His mates from his photo club thought it would be cool if the dressed up together and came as a group, and who else, but the Village People … the group that they ALWAYS look for first when it’s their turn up on the karaoke stage.  Yes, alright, they do look very cool.

oh yeah  Y-M-C-A  baby !

[174/365]  Day 23 in the Month of Minifigs

speak no evil

Marcel always was a shy type of guy, but this is ridiculous … a mime?  Was he really planning to spend the whole evening at a party and not say a word ??

“A magician makes the visible invisible. A mime makes the invisible visible.”  “It’s good to shut up sometimes.”
Marcel Marceau

[173/365] Day 22 in the Month of Minifigs

not funny

Jester didn’t think this was funny at all … he’d arrived late to the party and had missed his favourite songs from the band … his boss had made him work back to get a urgent job finished.

[172/365] Day 21 in the Month of Minifigs

the band

With the party nearly in full swing, the band that Lego-me hired arrived, ready to blow the roof off.

He’d seen them before on youtube, and was stoked when they agreed to the gig … they are an amazingly talented group, capitalising on their individual strengths and able to perform rap, rock, disco and pop.

Let the show begin !

[171/365]  Day 20 in the Month of Minifigs

hello sailor

“hello sailor, welcome to the party”.  Sailors are always good for a party, perhaps because of the long times spent at sea with the same people, where once back on land they go for it hard.  Lego-me’s mate, Jack, has never been to sea, but he sure acts like he’s just stepped back onto land whenever he goes out.

[170/365]  Day 19 in the Month of Minifigs

crash test dummy

Lego-me really doesn’t know where some of his friends got their costumes from, but they have done a fantastic job.  Buster came dressed in an amazing crash test dummy outfit … i take my hat of to anyone that goes to that much trouble for a fancy dress party.

[169/365]  Day 18 in the Month of Minifigs

lets get ready to rumble

In the blue corner for this bout is Nacho Lego-bre.  The scary thing about Jack arriving in his wrestling costume, is that it is actually real, and he uses it regularly … and for some strange reason he thinks it will help him with the ladies.

“lets get ready to rumble”
