It wasn’t long ago that these were the ‘latest thing’ but that now seems like such a long time ago as the world rushes towards a completely wireless future. I wonder how long it will be before these are completely obsolete ?
deep throat
One from the useless trivia files …. on this day …. 26th October 1973 – US President Richard Nixon handed over the 1st of the tapes recorded in the Watergate scandal.
something to smile about ?
Keep smiling – it makes people wonder what you’ve been up to. Do you have something to smile about ?
broccolini
I know I’ve said it before, but I’m absolutely amazed by these tiny things that are right in front of us, but we just can’t see them.
notebook

“You can’t live your life for other people. You’ve got to do what’s right for you, even if it hurts some people you love.” ― Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook
clowning around
“I remain just one thing, and one thing only, and that is a clown. It places me on a far higher plane than any politician” – Charlie Chaplin
tagged
On of my contacts on flickr, photography.andreas ‘tagged’ me to post 10 random things about myself. Andreas is also completing a 365 project this year, just his is with a bit of a difference, as it is entirely comprised of lego minifigs … and he’s doing a fantastic job.
I thought i’d do a tribute shot tonight of one of his images that I love. You can see his original version here.
power

“Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.” Abraham Lincoln
brush
Apparently this thing is “Ideal for cleaning and removing rust and corrosion from items made of brass, copper or other soft ferrous metals-such as tools, door knobs, automobile parts and electrical contacts.” …. if only I needed to do one of those things, they don’t often come in day-to-day as an accountant.
This is what it looks like full size:
show me the money
“Show me the money! ”
“Yeah! Louder!”
“Show me the money! ”
“Yes, but, brother, you got to yell that shit! “
“Show me the money! ”
“I need to feel you, Jerry! “
“Show me the money! ”
apple a day
An apple a day keeps the doctor away ….. and so does getting off your arse, eating right, and exercising.
If you’ve got an iPhone, get one of these, stick it in (or on) your shoe, and hit the road. I’m not a runner by any stretch of the imagination, but I have just passed the 1,000km mark – yes ONE THOUSAND KILOMETERS !
thread a needle
There is a chinese proverb that says, “Endurance can turn a iron bar into a needle.”
That’s true, but it’s not going to help you thread the thing to get the job done … that takes something else entirely.
brainy smurf ? or just stupid ?
I spent the first 25 or 26 years of my life studying one thing after another, learning different things, building my career – there was school, university, the Accountants Professional Year program, and a couple of post grad programs: taxation, finance and investment – my brain was full, I just had to stop.
That was a little over 10 years ago, and I’ve done nothing since – well, other than a hell of a lot of work, and a few short courses for fun (woodworking, and basic photography) – but lately I’ve been feeling that I need something else, something to keep my brian active. I’m not sure how I’m actually going to do it, where the hell i’m going to find the time, but I’ve bitten the bullet … today is officially the start of another degree, this one in IT, and a focus in software development.
smart idea … or stupid ? what do you think ?
grand prix
I love F1 and grand prix motor racing – the tradition, the excitement, and the action. Living in Australia, though, it’s a bit tough to watch, given that it’s on very late on a Sunday night – but it really is something great to watch … and that means a few sleepy Monday’s at work.
One day, perhaps when my working days are behind me, I’d love to travel the world for a year, going to every race … definitely something for my bucket list.
Tonight is the 12th race of the season, at the Spa circuit in Belgium. It would be great to see Mark Webber finally get onto the top step for the first time this year.
it’s chocolate, it’s peppermint, it’s delicious
Kramer once wisely said “Who’s gonna turn down a Junior Mint? It’s chocolate, it’s peppermint; it’s delicious!”
I wasn’t going to, but I only got offered one of the tiny little things before my wife had polished off the whole box.
daffodil day
It’s an annual event, run by Cancer Council Australia, to raise money for cancer research, trying to find a ‘brighter, cancer future’ for all of us. It’s the largest fundraising event in the southern hemisphere, and is a bloody worthy cause.
The daffodil is the international symbol of hope for that are touched by cancer. And it’s something that touches all of us, with 1 in 2 diagnosed with some form of cancer in their lives. I’m one of them, but thankfully still here to celebrate, after having a malignant skin cancer removed from my back 13 years ago.
If you would like to donate, you can help this very worthwhile cause here.
light my fire
I don’t know what it is about macro shots that grabs my interest, but they really light my fire.
ideas?
Completing a 365 project is definitely a challenge. It pushes you in so many ways, not only technically composing & executing a good image, not to mention the discipline & motivation to do it each day, but mostly trying to find inspiration and ideas.
Today’s another day when I’m scratching to find one.
let the music play

It’s late, i’ve got nothing to say, doesn’t matter because you can’t here me if you’ve got this anyway !
what am i ?
This useful tool, commonly found in the range of 8 inches long, its use is enjoyed by members of both sexes, and is usually found hung, dangling loosely, ready for instant action. It boasts of a clump of little hairy things at one end and a small hole at the other.
In use, it is quickly inserted, almost always willingly, sometimes slowly, sometimes quickly, into a warm, fleshy, moist opening where it is thrust in and drawn out again and again many times in succession, often quickly and accompanied by squirming bodily movements.
Anyone found listening in will most surely recognize the rhythmic, pulsing sound, resulting from the well lubricated movements.
When finally withdrawn, it leaves behind a juicy, frothy, sticky white substance, some of which will need cleaning from the outer surfaces of the opening and some from its long glistening shaft.
After everything is done and the flowing and cleansing liquids have ceased emanating, it is returned to its freely hanging state of rest, ready for yet another bit of action, hopefully reaching its bristling climax twice or three times a day, but often much less.
What am I ?
If you answered anything other than this, you need help.
