cheap seats
My quick dash holiday in Singapore is over … now stuck here for the next 7 or so hours … if only they could speed this bit up !

singapore panorama
These panoramas are from the Skypark Observation Deck at the new Marina Bay in Singapore.
It’s a amazing structure, 3 60′ish story buildings, with interconnecting roof spanning all three … complete with observation deck for average joe public (like me) and a skyhigh swimming pool for a lucky few hotel guests (who pay extra to swim up there).

shrek’s outhouse
A new Universal Studio theme park has opened, this one in Singapore … and I happened to spend the day there today. Not sure what I expected that it would be like, but sadly it seemed to be missing some WOW – I don’t know what was missing, but something was !
Lot’s of photos of the Universal characters, but none grabbed my attention like Shrek’s Outhouse.

bugis
This is a crazy place, Bugis Markets, packed with hundreds of stalls and thousands of shoppers .. cheap stuff everywhere, yet most people seem to just look rather than shop ?

singapore air

Finished work for the week, and heading off to Singapore for a few days of R&R, eating, drinking, shopping, new suits and a little photography … but perhaps not in that order.

melbourne laneways
Wherever you walk in Melbourne CBD there are lots of wonderful laneways, old and new, clean and flithy, smooth or gritty … all of them fantastic to take photos in.
Here are a few more I found this morning:
yarra dawn
I got the opportunity while in Melbourne to get out early and just wander. I could never live there, but it is a very interesting city – always lots going on, fantastic food – if only the weather was passable.
I took this shot just after dawn from a bridge crossing the Yarra river. The river is a regular workout spot for lots of rowers, they get out on the water every morning, rain hail or shine – usually one of the first two
Here are a few others from my morning walk.
* everyone must still be in bed
* Melbourne CBD skyline (using HDR merge of 3 bracketed images)
* Chinese lanterns, celebrating Chinese New Year, near Crown Casino.
* panoramic shot down the yarra river towards Crown casino- southbank on the left, CBD on the right (click the image for full size)
* panoramic shot up the yarra river towards the MCG (in the middle background) – CBD on the left, boatsheds & alexandra gardens on the right (click the image for full size)
Tanah Lot
An amazing place to sit and watch the sun set. Hundreds of locals travel here to wade across the rocks, climbing around the outcrop to make their offerring at the temple.
[postscript: if only I'd taken this a year or two later as an HDR image].
Auschwitz-Birkenau
The size and scale of this place is overwhelming … a photo can’t do it justice. A remarkable place to visit, and pay respect to the millions who lost their lives here.
